  1. Be sure to layer clothing. Thermal top under a turtle neck and button shirt if very cold over turtle neck. Thermal bottoms, heavy sock, jeans if you don't have nylon ski pants. Ski pants will keep you dry. Gloves, a scarf, hat (a must). A warm jacket best if nylon. Don't wear sneakers to the slope...you will slip and slide. If you have ankle boots, that's good. Put a tissue in pocket (believe me your nose will run). Don't overdue on the first day. Learn first to fall! Fall with your skis on a few times to learn how to get back up. Don't panic. Always keep your knees bent and relax as you ski. Take the easy slopes first..don't let friends talk you into going on a more difficult slope. There's no shame in falling....we all do at first. When you are tired take a break. If you are tired, never make a last run...that's when you get hurt.  Wow, I'm sorry....enough said. Go easy at first and have fun....lots of laughs. Don't be embarrassed...we all started on the bunny slopes.

  2. wear, under armor, thermals,  and it will be fun.

  3. Layers!  And waterproof things.

The layer of clothing next to your body (over your underwear) should be non-cotton and wicking.  When cotton gets wet it doesn't insulate and is heavy so if you're damp from snow or sweat you'll be cold.

The next layer should be something warm and insulating and again preferrably not cotton, but a turtleneck or sweatpants will work.

Outside from that you might want a fleece jacket and then your water and wind proof outerwear.

  4. Wear layers of thin clothes, long johns, a sweater, hat that covers your ears, ski goggles, a helmet, ski mittens are warmer than gloves, waterproof ski pants, warm socks.  Only your foot and your socks go in the ski boot, which should fit TIGHT around your foot and ankle. Take sunscreen, SPF 45+  also take a set of lessons from a qualified professional instructor. Make new friends, practice what the instructor shows you.  Never be afraid or embarrassed to walk back out of a run that is too much for you.

Also take money, keep it in an inside pocket, closed tight and a spare set of keys.
