Skiing or snowboarding for a beginner?

I've been thinking about starting snowboarding or skiing but don't know which one to choose.What are the advantages and disavantages of both?

The first day of both can be very hard - but in different ways. In Snowboarding you will fall on your butt and wrists a lot the first two times. In Skiing, you will twist your knees a lot the first ten times.

Snowboarding is harder the fist day, Skiing is harder to become an intermediate, and then Snowboarding takes longer to get really good. Skiing can often be mastered in a couple of seasons - Snowboarders often improve every season for many years.

If you live in a place that is always icy and hard snow conditions, I would recommend skiing. That is the only time I ski anymore. If you have softer snow (powder or spring conditions) snowboarding is a lot more fun. There is nothing better than floating through powder on a snowboard.
