My BFF, multipoogrl (her Yahoo! Answers id name), and I are having a major problem over if skiing or snowbording is more dangerous. I like snowbording better and she likes skiing. I said that skiing isn't as dangerous because you have two poles and with snowbording you only have your arms to balance you. Which do you think is more dangerous and why? Best explained answer will get 10 points!!! Tnkz!!Allie :)

  1. You fall more often snowboarding but the falls are not as sever when you fall skiing(im talking about an advanced intermediat skier) when you wall skiing its is a lot easier to seriously injured when you fall skiing because you are on seperate boards that can cross and do all kinds of things that can really s***w up your legs but on the other hand snowboarding can really trash your arms and wrists but as for sever long term injuries skiing is much more dangerouse then snowboarding

  2. Both skiing and snowboarding are very dangerous, just last year i shattered my collarbone and had to get a metal plate put in...But i would have to say that after doing both of the sports for a pretty long time, snowboarding is more dangerous, or at least you see more people get hurt doing it... When your go down skiing, I feel that you have control over the way you fall, when you fall snowboarding, it is usually because of a caught edge(at least for most beginners) so you "snap" down quiker resulting in alot of shoulder/wrist injuries.. Though if you ask me which one is more FUN i would say SKIING, or at least Twin Tip, because you can do some pretty sweet tricks....So in the end, snowboarding is just inherently more dangerous..

  3. I think that the dangerousness of any sport depends on how far you're willing to go to the edge.

Each sport has it's hazards but I can tell you that as a emergency room nurse, we repair more snowboarders than skiers.  Snowboarders are seem more willing to take risks without proper training.  I know that the halfpipe at the local ski center is full of boarders that haven't had any formal instruction on adanced moves.

Overall I don't think that either sport is more dangerous than the, it's the behavior of the individuals paticipating in the sport that makes them a hazard to themselves and others around them.

    Hope this helps.

  4. SKIING  ALL THE WAY BFF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT U R TLKIN BOUT

  5. Skiing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!... bagers can't ski!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. skiing

  7. Both skiing and snowboarding can result in sports injuries, but they tend to have slightly different injury patterns. Skiers are more likely to have knee injuries (from twisting motion during falls), and snowboarders tend to have more upper body injuries (as a result of falling on an outstretched hand). There are also many injuries common to both types of winter athletes.

  8. well, in terms of danger, i guess that all depends on whether you would rather be hurdling down a snow covered mountain strapped to one waxed object or two. falling tends to do less damage on a snowboard because your legs are forced to stay together... with skis they can fly any which way. but it all really depends on your skill level and how extreme you are. whether you ski or board, if you do it like a maniac, it's going to be dangerous (but also very fun!)
