Skilful determined to reverse Kempton form in Sky Bet Stakes at Windsor
Skilful, who had been producing good results since the start of his career, performed poorly in his last appearance at Kempton. A disappointing outcome might have dented his confidence to some extent, but still the four-year-old's
class cannot be ignored.
John Gosden’s trainee is likely to bounce back and display a wonderful act in the Class 1 Sky Bet Stakes, taking place at Windsor on Monday, May 14th. The officials will begin the proceedings at 19:10 (GMT).
Skilful is going to show his skills against some big names like, King Torus, Tullius, Memory Cloth and Albaqaa.
After staying out of action for more than half a year, Skilful made his comeback at the start of this month. The colt could not resume his journey on a winning note and finished fifth in the Get Your Bet On At Blue Square Paradise
Stakes.
Despite his poor performance last time out, the bookies are expecting him to fire today. He has registered two wins so far in his career.
King Torus is another fascinating contender. The four-year-old is aiming to record his first win this season. He also made his seasonal debut at Kempton, where he beat Skilful by a length’s distance to ensure the fourth place
in the list.
Windsor’s conditions are likely to support Skilful and thus, he has a great chance of dishing out revenge. On the other hand, King Torus is h**l-bent to improve his work and grab the winning prize worth £18,714.
Tullius is coming into this contest after demonstrating an extraordinary show at Newmarket. The class 2 Makfi Suffolk Stakes (Handicap) saw him finishing first by ¾ a length.
Peter Winkworth’s trainee went on a long vacation after his decent performance at Pontefract in October last year. In the David Brotherton Stewarding Handicap, the four-year-old missed the top rank only by a neck’s distance.
Memory Cloth and Albaqaa are also talented runners, but they don’t have bright chances against this line-up.
According to our calculations, Tullius is the biggest threat to Skilful. The spectators will not be surprised, if Tullius upsets Skilful today. We wish the best of luck to everyone.
