whats the difference between skim and regular milk? which is better for you and why?

  1. I have drank skim milk all my life. I think skim milk is way better to drink..........but in cereal i would definetely pick regular. If you are worried about gaining weight then definetely stick to skim.

    Swedish researchers found that women who drank one serving of whole milk per day put on less weight than those who didn't.

    Funny, with this low fat craze nowadays, we're seeing more obese people and heard disease than ever before.  Eating fat does not make you fat!

    I also agree with an answer above mine, drink RAW milk from grass fed cows.  It is MUCH better for you!

  4. I went from whole milk to 2% to 1% to skim.If you gradually make the transition you won't tell that skim seems watery.

    Obviously switching to skimmed milk would be another way of cutting down on fat in your diet if you are trying to lose weight. I drink skimmed. Have been for about two years, at first i didn't like it so much, but i'm so used to it now its normal to me.

  14. skim milk doesn't have all the vitamins and stuff that u really need that's in regular milk!....so regular milk like vitamin D or like 2% is really good for u....if ur absolutley desperate to loose like tons of pounds...then I guess skim milk is for you...but I would just stay away from it!  lol..Hope I helped!♥

  18. actually and i dont like sayin it but skim milk is better due to the fat content.However i was raised in the country and i like whole milk  but learning to drink skim is not a bad deal either just takes a little gettin use too and the taste is not so much different

  19. Skim is better, it doesn't have a lot of fat. And it tastes better..

    Really the only difference is that reg. milk is more creamy and thick and a bit more fattening, while skim milk doesn't have so much consistency.

  20. For adults its less fat and calories, Kids need regular milk with fat for their brain to develop and be smart!  Until the age of 2 at least!

Skim milk has no or almost no butterfat content (0 to 0.5%) whereas whole milk has 3.25% butterfat content.  In order to get a certain percentage of butterfat content, all of the fat is removed from the milk, and then the desired percentage is put back in.  Check out Wikipedia if you want to know more.

    On a personal note, i call skim milk "white water" because of the lack of taste.  2% or 1% is a good compromise.  :)

  23. Skim is way better because it has no fat and the nutritional content is much better. There's much less sodium (salt), sugar etc. If you just compare the nutrition facts on the cartons, you'll see. Regular milk is much thicker than skim because of the high fat content. I prefer the taste of skim but if you're not used to it, it tastes watered down. Skim also helps you grow taller over regular.

  24. regualr has more fat...skim no fat. i prefer skim. to me, it all tastes the same!
