Question:

Skimboarding noob. Time to replace the wood board?

Hey all. I've gotten to the point where I pretty much can run as fast as I can and ride my wood board until it stops. Since I live on the shore I basically need to go parallel to the coast. Whenever I try to do tricks, the board basically just sticks into the sand. I'm thinking it's because its too heavy?

So I was thinking of getting a decent board finally. I looked at 2 of the local surf shops and the largest boards they are selling are Zap Large Wedge boards. Would that be sufficient for a guy that is about 170 and planning on gaining about 15 pounds by next summer? Thanks a lot... skimming is like crack.

  1. Don't keep the wood board. Get fiberglass and the Zap Pro. The wedge is good tooo. Anyway, the wooden boards sink because theyaren't hollow ans also the fiberglass glides better and is more angled. That's why it goes over waves easily. Wodd boards just go right through waves because they are too dense. And if you can't get any other board, the Zap Large Wedge is a really good board and definitely worth buying...Hope I helped!!
