well i've actually skim boarded before and had lots of fun but i didn't have massive waves coming in when i was doing it and I'm wondering if my wave will actually ride a wave if big enough ones ever come in. my board it just wood and isn't made out of surfboard material and i was just wondering if i can make it out far enough and actually ride the wave if i get out if a good storm

  1. I doubt you could ride a satisfying wave with a skimboard. There's a reason why surfboards are shaped the way they are; you would have no control with a skimboard. I am not sure if you're experieced or not but you could run at a wave right before it breaks (by the shore) and skim across the previous wave then hit the breaking wave like a skateboard jump. You can do various tricks off this and if the wave is big enough, you can cut back and "surf" for a short period.
