i'm 17 and i just started taking the pill 2 packs ago. i started with a pack of Yaz, but didn't like it so switched to Yasmin. I'm finishing my first pack of Yasmin in a few days. next month my period is going to be on a very eventful week, and i was wondering how people skipped their period on purpose while on the pill. don't they just not take the placebo pills, and just start the next pack? is this safe? effective? and then the next month i can just take the placebo pills and get my period right? please give me all the info i need to know about.

  1. yes u can do that, it should work.  but, not taking a rx as directed can be dangerous.  and u risk messing w/ ur hormone balance.

  2. Just go on to the next pack.  It's completely safe and effective.  I do it when I have stuff to do, or vacation, or anything.  Sometimes 3 months at a time.  I asked the doctor and they also confirmed it was ok to do.

  3. You NEED to get doctor approval before messing with ANY prescription drug, including birth control pills.

Even then, you have a 50/50 chance of it not working anyway, and an almost 100 per cent chance of s******g your cycle up.

Talk to your doctor, and get his/her approval FIRST.  Then ask him/her what to do and what will happen when you start taking pills as prescribed again.

I tried skipping my period, not only did it not work, it screwed up my cycle for months.  Even though it may work with other women does not mean it will work for you.

  4. Yes you can just skip the sugar pills. Since Yasmine is a monophasic pill it will not fail OR mess up your cycle
