I want skis I can go downhill with fast but also want to be able to go off jumps with them, I am not sure what a ski needs to consist of to be a good ski for terrain parks? help would be greatly appreciated. Also what size would be good for me?

  1. visit a local ski shop and get outfitted by the pros!

  2. You must go with twintips. You need them for the park and of course you can still ski them from the top of the mountain. Most manufacturers have info on their websites about how long they should be. They don't have to be stunted for the park. Anything up to about 166cm should be OK.

  3. Get a twintip with vertical sidewalls and a wood core.  A lot of brands make really bad twintips that are really soft and fall apart quickly, so make sure you look for something with a solid construction.  Some good ones to check out would be the k2 public enemy, nordica ignition, any armada or 4frnt.  Make sure you get a decent length though (not 140cm...he doesn't know what he's talking about).  A lot of people go way too short on twintips because they think it makes it easier to do tricks, but they are only sacrificing edge grip and limiting the amount of air they can get.  120-125 is really light, but you should still go at least 160cm....anything under that would be ridiculous.

  4. The perfect ski for what you want is just not designed yet.

For the downhill portion with speed, you need some length, minimum is 160, maybe 165. the design will give you stability at speed and a comfortable landing from jumps.  The terrain park/ twin tip ski will need to turn and edge when needed. As to the brand, try several at a demo days in your favorite resort area.  The donation is very reasonable to try several different brands and models in one day.  Some resorts have an ongoing demo hut just to try each model, but it's just one brand.

If you are going to grow some more, or add weight in the near future, go with the longer ski.
