Liverpool defender, Martin Skrtel, believes his side deserved to grab all three points from their weekend’s fixture against Swansea City.
The Merseyside outfit dominated the bulk of the proceedings on Sunday at the Liberty Stadium, with the hosts weathering a storm of attacks during the first period.
Jose Enrique saw his goal disallowed by the linesman, as the Spaniard was marginally caught in an off-side position.
Raheem Sterling then smashed the frame of the goal from a thunderous volley, while goalkeeper, Gerhard Tremmel, denied http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Glen-Johnson-c15050 with a spectacular save.
Nonetheless, despite having come close on myriad occasions, Brendan Rodgers’ troops were forced to settle for a goalless stalemate as the Swans resolutely defended their goal.
The draw kept them in the bottom half of the table, but further stretched their recent unbeaten run in the league to 8 matches now.
Anyhow, Skrtel insisted that his side deserved more than just a point out of the fixture. The Slovakian International feels that they were, by far, the better team on the day and had they made the most of their chances, they could have mustered a comfortable
win.
However, he was relieved that the Reds did not leak any goals and was lifted by the fact that their unbeaten streak continued.
“The main thing if you don't win the game, don't lose the game. We try to work hard in the defence, try to keep a clean sheet, and as defenders help the team to get the points,” he told the club’s official website.
“But we knew before the game it was not going to be easy in Swansea and we could see it wasn't.”
“We took the point and remained unbeaten, that's good, but I think we were feeling we could win and get more than we got.”
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 will face a more challenging task on Wednesday, when they visit the White Hart Lane to take on Tottenham Hotspur. The Reds trail the London-based club by a margin of four points currently, and will look to bridge that gap by coming up with a win.
Their last visit to the stadium saw them get hammered 4-0.
