Skrtel says Reds won’t miss Torres, Torres leads shirt sales
Martin Skrtel predicts Fernando Torres will regret move to Chelsea
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Fernando-Torres-c13707 saga, when it was least required. Skrtel arrogantly claimed that he felt that the team would not miss the Spaniard after having bought Luis Suarez and Andy
Carroll on the deadline day of the January transfer window. He went as far as to say that he felt that the striker would regret his record breaking £50 million move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, which was also completed on the last day of free market.
While talking to reporters Skrtel said, “We have captured Suarez and Carroll. I believe these two will replace him and we will be at least as strong as we were with Nando. We all feel sorry because he's a player of world class ability but, to be honest,
it was no surprise. This season has not been going according to our wishes and expectations and that convinced him that it is the right time to move elsewhere. This is how he explained it to us.”
Skrtel added in a sour tone, “I wish him all the best but do not wish any success to Chelsea. Maybe Fernando will regret making this step sometime in the future.”
It seems that both Suarez AND Carroll cannot make up for the departure of Fernando Torres, and Skrtel finds it hard to accept the bitter reality. Torres scored a total of 81 goals for the Reds in his three and half seasons at Anfield, just ten less than
he managed to score in about seven seasons at previous club Atletico Madrid.
Fernando Torres outdoes his replacements in number of shirt sales
Despite all the ill wishes from Liverpool supporters, Fernando Torres has been doing very well at Chelsea, without even having made his debut. He has outdone his replacements at Liverpool, Andy Carroll and Luis Suarez, in the number of shirts sold. According
to statistics, the demand for Torres shirts since his arrival at Stamford Bridge is 40% more than what it was when he arrived at Anfield some three years ago. The new Chelsea signing is leading Carroll by 250-1 and Suarez by 30-1. Considering how much profit
the Blues are making by just Torres shirt sales, the transfer fee of £50 million does not seem big at all, and it’s only a matter of time that Chelsea recover’s that amount. Fernando Torres will be set to make his debut against Liverpool on Sunday, when they
visit Stamford Bridge.
