Liverpool’s defender, Martin Skrtel revealed that he is happy scoring goals for the Reds along with his defensive role, and remained hopeful that he could score more goals in the future.
The 27 year old Slovakian player has scored 4 times for Liverpool in the current season, in all competitions. One of his goals came at a crucial moment for the Reds, when the defender slotted one in for his side during the Carling Cup final against Cardiff
City in February. Liverpool went on to win that match on a penalty shootout.
Skrtel, who came to Anfield in January 2008, revealed that he had set himself the target of scoring at least three goals this season. Despite the fact that he has already surpassed that mark, he vowed to look for more goals in the remaining games.
"It's the most I've scored in a season because usually I don't get too many. I've got four at the moment and I'm happy with that.” The Slovakian told LFC Magazine.
Before the 2011/2012 season, he managed to score only three goals for the Reds, one coming during his first full season at the Merseyside club, while he scored 2 goals in the 2010/2011 season.
In total, he has made 164 appearances for the Reds, scored 7 goals and has picked up 4 assists.
The Slovakian International believed that he failed to capitalize on the opportunities he got in the past, and admitted that he has been a little bit fortunate this season. He described his goal against Cardiff City in the league final as a special moment
in his life, and one that he will cherish for a very long time.
"My strike against Cardiff wasn't the nicest goal but it was special to score in a final at Wembley. My friends were very happy for me, they all congratulated me.” He added.

The Anfield side will face off against Everton in the semi-final of the FA Cup on 14th April, and Skrtel believed that the Reds have the opportunity to transform their dismal year in a memorable one, by winning the FA Cup.
