Sky Sports refuses to broadcast Amir Khan’s unification fight against Zab Judah – Boxing news
British sports channel Sky Sports has refused to broadcast Amir Khan’s unification fight against Zab Judah, which is scheduled for July 23, 2011 at the Mandalay Bay Centre in Las Vegas.
This fight will now be shown on Primetime, which is a one-off Pay Per View channel.
The 24-year-old Khan’s last title defence, which was in April 2011 against the Irishman Paul McCloskey, was also rejected by Sky Sports’ and was instead broadcasted on Primetime. Though it proved to be a big fight which registered 70,000 PPV buys, Sky Sports’
has again refused to show the fight by saying they do not want Tim Bradley or Zab Judah fights.
World Boxing Association’s World Super Lightweight Champion Amir Khan told the media, “We talked to Sky and they didn't want the [Tim] Bradley or Judah fights. We were willing to bring Bradley to the UK too.”
The British World Champion, Khan, added he does not understand why he is not being broadcasted by the sporting giant. He vowed he will prove them wrong and one day they will be knocking his door.
Amir ‘The King’ Khan also revealed that he wants to be the number one pound-for-pound boxer in the world.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “We don't have answers as to why they're not interested. I'll just have to win fights and prove them wrong. Hopefully they'll come knocking on my door. I've got some big fights coming up - I want to be, pound for
pound, the best in the world.”
“I don't know if it's me or if they don't enjoy my boxing. I think I have the most exciting skills in the country. They showed my fight with Dmitri Salita. I would have thought this was a better contest than that.”
Khan-Judah fight is being considered as the one which is going to be an absolute classic. Let’s see whether Khan, who has won 25 of his 26 fights including 17 by knockout, is be able to earn a place on the channel or not.
