.............Sky + box?

Question

Can I just buy a Sky + box off Ebay to replace my standard Sky box and thats all that needs doing or do Sky need to install something in my house or on my dish?

Please try and clear this up for me :)

in order for it to work as it should you need to have the LNB on the dish replaced with a dual or quad type and a second cable connected from then dish to the sky+box (or replace the existing one with a  twin coax cable). you can get an independent engineer to do this or sky (around £65). It can work with your existing wiring but you will be limited to recording only the channel you are watching because you don't have the second line from the dish( also it will give occasional erratic operation ie: no sat signal / no series link). The way to connect it is to  connect the satellite cable to where it says Input 1 on the rear of the sky+ box, the rest is all the same(scart, power lead, tel lead) insert the card and then ring sky to activate the sky+ recording function and get the card matched to the new box.
