Question:

Sky copy protection?

Does anyone know if there is a copy protection system of some kind located on the movies screened on normal Sky movies as I appear to be having problems recording using my new DVD recorder.

As I playback recorded movies they skip forward every so often.

Please can someone help.

  1. I have not tried normal sky movies ( remember though it could be a condition that they put some protection in to stop pirate copies as they are copyrighted) but I have had problems in the past with copy protection on box office programmes.

Normal programming I have had no problems with. See if your DVD recorder can copy normal channels first, if they can then that should eliminate DVD faults, if not then DVD could be faulty or disc fault, further checks required. Remember though that sky plus boxes can record all sky programmes onto its own hard drive recorder, but it will still have copy protection (if used on that programme) if you try to record from the sky hard drive to DVD recorder.

UPDATE: Have just recorded a short part of a film as a test and everything seemed to record onto the DVD recorder with no problems, perhaps others may post what results they have had to give you a better idea, would be interesting to see.
