  1. blue.

  2. Sky and Blu-ray are different things so you should not be thinking of them as  an "either-or" choice.

The HDTV standard is very tightly defined and not really subject to manufacturing variance in the same way that analogue systems were, so either will send  your televsion set an  identical 'quality' of picture.

There is more variation in the quality of tv sets themesleves than anything else.

Ideally you should treat them as complimentary to each other.

Sky is a satellite broadcasting system. It delivers schedulled  programmes like ordinary terrestrial tv. Sky HD will deliver high definition pictures.

Blu-ray is a high definition DVD standard, You use a Blu-ray player to play the discs and watch high definition films just as you would with any other DVD player or VHS machine.

If you only have money for one of them (remember that Sky HD means buying a new box and also involves a £10/ month subscription), then I suggest that you buy a Blu-ray machine and rent or buy Blu-ray (BD) DVDs when you want them. They are dear at the moment but the price will come down eventually.

At some unspecified date the BT V-box will also deliver HD programmes on a pay-per-view basis. The v-box is available free to BT internet subscribers.

HD broadcasts will be available now on Freesat (no subscption) or on Freeview (terrestrial) from next year, so why waste money on a Sky subscription?

  3. blue is better

  4. You will want to get Sky HD to get the full benefits of HD television programs but if you preffer watching films get the Bluray drive. I personally would get the Bluray recorder (it is a recoreder isn't it?) and get Sky HD later if you want it. :)
