ok, i was kinda freaked out about this because i didnt know what was going to happen.. before the sky turned colors it was hailing the size of golf balls for about 5 minutes and its the first day of summer.. then storming the rest of the day. around 9:00 it finally slowed down to drizzling and the sky turned a bright pinkish red.. like so bright that it looked like the sun turned pink because if you looked around not only was the sky pink so was everything else.. but it was only like this in a certain area. then after about 5 minutes it turned to a dark purple then to a bright blue. oh and there were shades of green too.. and this was all at night.. then after that it went to the normal dark blue night time sky.. why did this happen?

  1. Atmospheric conditions reflecting different shades of the spectrum.  The weather tomorrow should be pretty decent, based on what you saw.  There's an old sailor's saying:

Red sky at morning, sailors take warning. Red sky at night, sailor's delight.

  2. It sounds like it was a big combo of weather conditions and solar radiation.

It depends on where you are but if things are just right, you can see the northern-lights anywhere... My father saw them in WI once and they were so bright he didn't know what to think!

It could have been a big combo of the northern lights... City lights reflecting off of the clouds... Solar radiation...

Or you might have been tripp'in! LOL! (Just kidding)

I don't think it is anything to worry about... Nature is a strange thing... NOTHING suprises me anymore!

  3. Sometimes you'll see lightning in the distance and it will flash different colors, storms are always full of surprises and they are usually fast moving so you will get a lot of color changes and different things happening in a short time span.
