Bethesda has made the long-awaited Massively Multiplayer Online (MMO) game, set in the Elder Scrolls universe, set to release in English, French and German.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim scooped up so many Game of the Year awards since its release last year that it would be hard to argue that the game was a gaming masterpiece, albeit with a fair amount of glitches but those have been sorted out since its early days.
As with any franchise or series that garners such a vast and loyal fan base, one can expect the publishers to expand on the experience as fans are literally begging for more Elder Scrolls content at the moment.
Bethesda has already announced the ‘Dawnguard’ DLC for Skyrim and that now seems to be just the top of the iceberg as the studio has also announced a full online MMO set in the fantastical universe.
The game is titled The Elder Scrolls Online and according to Matt Firor, who is a veteran in online game development and currently working with ZeniMax Online Studios on the MMO, the game was developed due to fan demand.
“We have been working hard to create an online world in which players will be able to experience the epic Elder Scrolls universe with their friends, something fans have long said they wanted,” Firor said.
He went on to explain how it would be “extremely rewarding finally to unveil what we have been developing the last several years” and how the game was being developed to be up to the same standard as the rest of the Elder Scrolls games.
More details are said to follow in next month’s issue of Game Informer. The magazine boasts, “An in-depth look at everything from solo questing to public dungeons...as well as a peek at the player-driven PvP conflict that pits the three player factions against each other.”
As for the plot that will hold everything together, the magazine adds that The Elder Scrolls Online is “set a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm.”
