Bethesda are set to release a patch for their latest title, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and patch 1.4 will be a big relief for PlayStation 3 users in particular.
The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is the fifth part in the long running and highly successful Elder Scrolls series. Apart from being the most played game on Valve’s digital distribution platform Steam, it was also on the top of the sales charts in the United Kingdom
for over a month as well.
The game has received nothing but praise from a majority of gamers though the PlayStation 3 version of the game has had more than its fair share of issues. The most pertinent of which has been the constant complaints of lag which have plagued gamers on Sony’s
current generation console.
It has taken some time coming, yet it seems that the patch is here...almost.
Bethesda stated, “We’re hoping to finalize this (patch 1.4) next week, and submit it to the console manufacturers for certification, as well as release on PC.”
It seems that all that is keeping the patch from heading over to consumers is a bit of ceremonious red tape. Nothing a game with dragons will not be able to handle.
The patch will primarily address the lag issues on the PlayStation 3 as well as a number of smaller issues in the game as well including the, “Issue with ash piles not cleaning up properly.”
There will also be a number of new quests to keep players engaged in the world of Skyrim longer and to keep them from constantly releasing arrows into the knees of the non-playable characters they see.
PC users will also have the option of whether or not they wish to download the patch via Steam. Bethesda has a tendency to release patches as betas so the PC audience can try them out before downloading.
For PlayStation 3 users the news of the long overdue patch will be welcome news as it was one of the reasons the game failed to live up to its full potential on that particular console.
More on the story as it develops.
