The Elder Scrolls V recently received its much awaited creation tool kit and as a surprise Valve have thrown Portal 2’s Space Core in the mix as well.
It is safe to say that the latest instalment in the Elder Scrolls series has taken the gaming world by storm. Not that anyone expected anything less, yet even after the game’s release fans were shouting for a creation tool kit which would allow the modding
community to get creative with the game.
Bethesda seemed to have anticipated the demand for the mod kit and was already working away at releasing one for the gaming public. The mod kit was delayed as the developer looked to fix a number of issues, yet it is finally available for download via Valve’s
digital distribution platform, Steam.
Valve though, decided to throw in an extra surprise for all the Steam subscribers out there by adding a character from one of their best known titles, Portal 2’s Space Core.
The Space Core mod is available in the Steam Workshop and is exclusive to Skyrim. The buzz is that the Space Core will be beside players and they explore the vastness of Skyrim and will be their ever present companion.
However, Valve explained that the move to add the Space Core was more due to the lack of Nolan North in Skyrim than anything else.
For those who do not know who Nolan North is, well, he is basically the voice actor behind so many video game characters that the list is nearly endless.
However, two of his most notable characters are Nathan Drake from the Uncharted trilogy and Desmond Miles from the Assassin’s Creed series.
Yes, the man is both Drake and Desmond in addition to being the voice of the Space Core as well. With this new bit of information in mind one can better understand Valve’s statement.
“Also, since Skyrim was the only major release of 2011 without Nolan North in it, you should consider this mod a patch to fix that problem.” It continued, “You can now feel free to include Skyrim in the ‘Nolan North’ section of our video game library, which
is to say, your video game library.”
Valve surely deserves a standing ovation for the move.
