Skywalker Louie, sent as the 8 to 11 favourite, finishes first in the 500m Open Race at Sheffield on Jan 10

A thrilling 500 metre long Grade Open Race was won by E T Parker’s trained hound, Skywalker Louie, at Sheffield on Tuesday, January 10, 2012.
By doing well, the son of Top Honcho out of Synone Starlight, justified his position as the favourite participant, having odds of 8 to 11. He was standing in the trap number one, when the officials kicked off proceedings. It was a comfortable success
for Skywalker Louie, as no contestant gave him any hard time.
The champ preserved his lead throughout the contest, and finished first with the finishing time of 29.50 seconds. As a result of his outstanding run, the dog ensured £200 – the first prize for the winner.
The victor was chased by Farloe Elder – the hound with the winning chances of 10 to 1. Whelped in October 2009, the son of Top Savings out of Tyrur Jade, initiated the sprint from the fourth stall. He clocked the distance in 30.06 seconds, and finished
second in the standings.
The third position was guarded by Frisby Fontenblu – with the odds of 11 to 4. Although, the son of Droopys Vieri out of Droopys Perlena, put in a lot of effort, he could not deliver what was required to win the clash. Trained by H Crapper, the hound
finished the race in 30.20 seconds, after getting out of the second stall.
Clerihan Gold took fourth spot in the standings with a finishing time of 30.30 seconds. The son of Goldmine Ramble out of Goldmine Sally, was sent off with the odds of 6 to 1 from the fifth trap.
Kilmalady Floral was the least favourite dog in the race with the probability of 25 to 1. However, he did slightly better than expected, and finished fifth. After his discharge from the third stand, he touched the wire in 30.44 seconds.
The last position went to Mays Stewart – the white and black hound who finished the competition in 30.66 seconds. His starting price was 6 to 1, and he was sent to the track from trap number six.
It was Skywalker Louie’s second successive win, and he is still unbeaten in the New Year. However, his trainer, E T Parker, needs not to be complacent, and keep up with the good work in order to achieve good future results.
