Skywalker Puma aiming to shock Droopys Jet in 2012 Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby Round 2 Heat 5 at Shelbourne Park
Skywalker Puma is out with an objective to outclass Droopys Jet and if he manages to do so, it will be a trouble free ride for him in the 2012 Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby Round 2 Heat 5, being held at Shelbourne Park on Thursday, August 9th.
Skywalker Puma certainly has the ability to knock down even the best of hounds, but needs something extra special to do the trick at this level. The black dog looked solid in the opening round of the Derby. It was his first ever journey over 550 yards, but
still the dashing hound did not let the pressure mount on him.
Despite an early mess, the son of Royal Impact kept himself prominent all the way through. Since luck did not smile on him that day, he missed the gold medal by four lengths. Skywalker Puma should use this as a motivational force, and get the better of Droopys
Jet, who is the hot cake tonight.
The F. Black-trained is in such an outstanding rhythm these days that the punters will not be reluctant to stake their money on him. On the first of this month, the black dog completed his hat-trick in a great fashion.
An early pace helped him establish his dominance soon after the beginning, and after getting a handsome lead, he kept running well. Following a sterling effort, he scored by staggering seven lengths. After three comprehensive wins, the son of Slip The Lark
is full of confidence, and will be very hard to beat.
Other hounds in the crew are: Tyrur Willyjoe, Stay Thirsty, Lemon Velvet and Headleys Charly. The heat is going to begin at 21:25 GMT.
Headleys Charly was well beaten by Tyrur Mcguigan last time around. Lemon Velvet also suffered an embarrassing defeat, when finishing fourth behind Stay Thirsty. Tyrur Willyjoe does not look to be in good position to crush this line-up. Stay Thirsty is coming
off a convincing win, but this is far from easy.
A close battle between Droopys Jet and Skywalker Puma is on the cards. It will be interesting to see how the latter manoeuvres things to upset his major rival. Good luck to all the runners.
