Slade Power expected to be competitive in Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes (Group 2)
Slade Power has been making his team proud since debuting in the sport and will look to continue doing so by winning the Qipco British Champions Sprint Stakes (Group 2) at Ascot in England on Saturday, October 20, 2012.
The competition is going to be a tough one in the 6 furlong event, as some highly skilful runners have been attracted towards it. They have been trained really well and will be looking to be competitive today. The winner will bag a cash prize of £141,775
in the end.
Society Rock has managed to get the attention of the bookies, as he has been rated as the favourite to succeed with a starting price of 3 to 1. He is a decent runner, but has been a touch inconsistent over the years, which is not a positive sign. Therefore,
the bettors will be hesitant to risk many bets on him.
The five-year-old horse has entered 19 races until now, winning five of them whereas finished as a runner up on four occasions. In addition to that, he secured the third spot on a couple of times, which shows what he is capable of.
Looking at his performances in the 2012 season, the James Fanshawe’s trainee has not done a bad job at all. He has made four appearances this year and was successful in the most recent one. Despite that, there will be pressure on him, as the conditions are
a bit tough at Ascot because of some overnight rain.
On the other hand, Slade Power has been impressive throughout his career. Although, he does not have a lot of experience, yet he is confident enough to take on the best in the business. Due to this, he has been given a general starting price of 15 to 2 by
the bookies and he will be a good choice for the bettors.
The Edward Lynam’s trainee has only appeared in six races until now, winning four of them whereas finished as a runner up in the remaining two. This shows that he will definitely be competitive at Ascot and will give a tough time to his opponents. He will
be partnered by Wayne Lordan, who has been accompanying him on most of the occasions.
