Slapping babies hand?

Question

I don't do this, but when my ex-boyfriend has our baby at his familys and his place when they tell her no, they slap her hand. I tell her no but i dont agree with the slaping hand thing... What is your opioion of this? and how do you tell you baby no? she is 9 months old..

At 9 months old I didn't lay a hand on them except to pop them in the mouth for biting my breast (breastfed babies start to chew on you when they are ready for their cereal) but at 9 months they are easily redirected to a more age appropriate activity like a ball or peek a boo.
