  1. Cross off metasomatism, since that&#039;s alteration by chemicals - and neither slate nor quartzite are examples of that.

    Slate is a low grade metamorphism, whereas quartzite is medium/high grade.

    Since slate and quartzite are not the same grade metamorphism (ie not low/low or high/high), I&#039;m going to have to go with disconformity.
