Question:

Slate tiles in the shower-rusty residue?

I had 16" square slate tiles put up in my shower, and I love the look. But one has a high content of clay or rust and I get a little stream of rusty residue down the side of my white tub.

I wonder if stone sealant will help and how to remove stain

  1. Stone sealant is the best solution for removal !i

  2. what you needs to do is remove the stain first. use a product such as CLR BUT READ THE DIRECTIONS FIRST! Such products are very dangerous.

Once cleaned, then you might want to consider sealing the stone. Since it's in the shower, I would imagine this has already been done (otherwise your contractor wasnt worth the money you paid him/her to do the work).

Rust residue is something that is very common in "well water" and appears less frequently in "city water".
