The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Valencia-c40863 coach is full of praise for Roman Pavlyuchenko after winning the latest Russian Premier League tie 2-1 against their arch rivals
Lokomotiv Moscow moved up to the 5th spot on the Russian Premier League table after securing a 2-1 win over arch rivals, Spartak Moscow at Stadion Lokomotiv (Moscow) on Sunday.
Though Lokomotiv fell behind after conceding an early goal, they bounced back and snatched a late win against the Moscow-based club, thanks to second-half goals from Roman Pavlyuchenko and Dame N’Doye respectively.
The Railroaders played the match on the back of a 3-2 defeat against Dynamo Moscow, a match where they twice levelled the score but failed to get in front.
Slaven Bilic, who left the managerial position at the Croatian national team only to join the Russian top division’s team last month, expressed his satisfaction over the latest win, saying that his side proved the fact that they
can come from behind to win a match.
The 43-year-old coach was feeling proud to tell that his side battered an opposition that has recently progressed to the 2012-12 UEFA Champions League group stages. Spartak moved to the next round after defeating Fenerbahçe in
the play-off round 3-2 on aggregate.
The Red-whites have been drawn against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/SL-Benfica-c40542 in the group stages.
“I would like to congratulate my players on the victory and thank them for their outstanding play. Today, we have won against a very serious contender, which has been selected in the group stage of the Champions League.”
“We had a shaky start to the match after conceding a goal early on in the game and which resulted from a stupid defensive mistake. In the first half I was very pleased with the way my team fought.” The Yugoslav Cup winner was quoted
as saying.
Bilic revealed that he decided to introduce http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-c31639, who moved to the Moscow-based club from Tottenham Hotspur in January, during the break and admitted that the prolific striker gave them a new dimension in the game.
Pavlyuchenko scored his third goal of the ongoing campaign, having already scored against Alania Vladikavkaz and Krylia Sovetov Samara.
