Sleep night before Colonoscopy w/laxatives?

Per doctor's orders I drank a while bottle of laxatives (Miralax) at 7 PM. The colonoscopy procedure is tmrw at 7 AM. Will I be able to get any sleep or will the laxatives keep me up crapping all night? Will it be safe to sleep on a regular bed? I'm serious. I've never ingested any form of laxative in my life prior to this.

  1. Because of family history, I have had several colonoscopies. Not much sleep the night before the procedure. You will catch up on the missed sleep after the procedure. Don't plan to be productive for the next 4 to six hours.

  2. Miralax doesn't make you have unexpected stools. You should not have any problem getting to the toilet.

Though I am surprised that he told you to take Miralax, and especially before bed.

Before a Colonoscopy you should be fast 8 hours before, and on clears 24 hours prior.

Then sometime during the day you take a Phospho-soda prep.

Then use the bathroom until your stools run clear. Yes clear like water.

    Hope this helps.
