can someone sleep for too long and is too much sleep bad for you?

  1. if u sleep to much ur bones will be sore and u can become fater if u eat and you get to much energy

    never sleep to long coz u can make ur bones stiff


  2. We all know that the recommended sleep time is 8 hours. Some people work well with less time and others with more. Too much sleep can cause tiredness in the body, so yes it can be bad for you. You just have to know when is a good time to sleep and not to.

  3. This is sort of an unanswerable question because if you don't sleep normally, you will never get enough sleep, and if you do sleep normally, then you won't over sleep.

    I spent a lot of time studying sleep, and find it a very interesting and misunderstood topic. People who sleep abnormally and sleep longer than normal sleepers, are doing this in order to make up for what they lack, so it's "normal." There was a study that came out showing that people who napped were more likely to die than those who didn't. The researchers mistakenly concluded napping was bad for you. What this indicated, we now know, was these people had sleep apnea and were overly tired during the day. Sleep apnea leads to heart disease, napping, and early death. Did these people sleep too much or sleep too abnormally? I'd say the they needed sleep studies and BiPaP machines.

    In general, if you find you are sleeping for more than 9 hours consistently, or if you need an alarm clock to wake up every day, then something is probably wrong. Most Americans don't get enough sleep, and this can cause all sorts of health problems. Which comes first, we don't know.

  5. Sleep is strange, it's both a necessity and a sort of pleasure. I think contemporary studies support the view that about 7 hours is typically necessary to restore the body's processes each night, but there's another aspect in which it feels as if the dreaming is like a pure focusing on a problem in ones thoughts. In that respect the question of necessity seems superfluous.

  6. A few months ago, i had nothing to do..i was so fed up and just slept all the time!

    I became very depressed and cried an awful lot..and, even though i was sleeping like..12-15 hours a day..i still felt very fatigued when i woke up...i got back ache and neck ache and it was not a good time for me..since then, i have been having early nights and waking up at a reasonable hour and feel a whole lot better..

    some who are depressed find themselves sleeping way way too much.

    or it may be some other health problem.
