Sleep unconsciousness or coma?

what is the diffence between being in a coma being unconscious or being asleep?

  2. Of these three conditions, coma would be the deepest and longest lasting, with the end of the condition never being certain unless it was medically induced.  

    Unconsiousness is usually a short term, self-limiting condition.  In other words, yes, one can be unconcious and unresponsive, but one normally comes out of unconciousness on their own, in their own good time.

    Sleep, while it has many levels, is not usually considered to be a medical condition.

    I am unclear as to what you're really asking here.  Could you perhaps be more specific, before I feel the need to get into things like REM sleep, and alpha, beta, delta waves, etc.???
