I'm going to Sweedish Lapland in February next year and need a sleeping bag. I'm a bit confused as to what season the sleeping bag should be for - lots say season 2 and things, what does this all mean? Any advice please? Will be staying one night at the Ice Hotel, 2 nights in an igloo and the rest in hotels. Thanks : )

  1. Ice hotel and igloos are warm places . ratings are based on comfort levels in British seasons - spring  autumn  winter 2 3 4 season respectively different manuacturers giving comfort levels of their bags , any respectable outdoor equipment site will give a full explanation . Top of my head , - 3 seasons would be very comfortable for you . Be careful though some bags are not as reliable as they make out , if you want a moderate priced bag try " Vango if you want an expensive one try Sweden . outdoorworld.co.uk vango bags

  2. Get yourself a 4 seasons or all seasons bag similar to the ones issued to the UK forces.

The three nights you spend away from the hotel will be more comfortable.

  3. I agree with the 4 season bag.  I have slept in such places and you want to be comfortable.  Go with a good sleeping bag.
