Sleeping disorder help?

Hi,

Where to start...well i'm a 20 year old male, perfectly healthy or so the doctor visits say. The problem is, I can't seem to sleep and I don't have a normal sleep schedule. I am awake for two days and the following day I usually crash (and I mean crash like i get really tired really fast all the sudden) around 11AM and I sleep until 7-11AM the next day.

This has been going on for several years now.

So pretty much instead of sleeping like the normal person (16 hours awake, 8 hours asleep) I sleep in one bulk (48 hours awake, 20-24hours asleep)

It never really concerned me much until now that i'm in college because the hours sometimes crash into when I have a class and it will probably effect my career if i'm not self employeed...is there a name for this? or is there some remedy for this besides taking sleeping pills every 16hours? (I don't think that is very healthy to do that alot...?)

Thanks for any help
