Question:

Sleeping on my stomach?

I love sleeping on my stomach, it is the most comfortable position for me. Usually, though, I don't sleep with a pillow because it hyper extends my back and hurts it. So bye-bye stomach pillow.

What are the benefits and disadvantages of sleeping on my stomach?

  1. Actually no, because of the awkward position it puts your head and spine in.  Plus, your night breathing will not be the best because of the position as well.

  2. Your spine was not designed to bend outwards, like it does when you sleep on your stomach and it puts strain on your neck muscles. Besides, sleeping no our stomachs lower our blood pressure.

But, if you are a healthy teen (i suppose) there really are no pros or cons. It is simply a matter of in which position you are most comfortable and in which position you feel the most rested. As people age and develop problems with back stiffness or pain, or if they have gastroesophageal reflux or snore excessively they may be better sleeping on their right side. These things are usually not an issue in the teen years.
