  1. well the only thing I can think of is Tylenol pm, or Excedrin pm hope this helps and good luck.

  2. I am not sure of Walmart's list or what they may have on there that can be a substitute for Ambien.  Although, just from what I know of the different classes of sleeping medications, I'm not sure I agree with those who recommend over the counter medicines either.  They are different classes of drugs and they work differently.  From what I understand AMbien is a hypnotic and works by calming the brain to ease it through a whole period of sleep.  THe over the counter meds are mild sedatives that work much the same way that Nyquil or Benedryl makes us feel sleepy and tired without making the mind and brain really let the body go to sleep and relax.

I'm not a professional by any means, but this is what I've read in various places.  Try calling the Walmart pharmacy you'd use and talk to them about your plite.  I am sure they deal with these questions regularly since they started their $4 list.

  3. I have TERRIBLE sleep problems and always have to take something at night. I am not currently taking a prescription but over the counter drugs I usually take this drug called Sleep II. It's at walgreens and I assume at walmart too. There is also Unisom, Nytol, SImply Sleep.

  4. no, but a 30 day script for lorazepam (generic ativan) is $15, it is commonly used at bedtime for sleep.  Another option is trazodone (it also is used for sleeping problems) that is $4 at walmart.
