  1. There are pills for that, but they're bad news.  Try working out prior to going to sleep.  Stuffing my face usually makes me sleepy.  If you do go with sleeping pills, be careful you don't drive or operate heavy machinery.  People come to rely on these medications to sleep then build up a tolerence & have to take more & more, some people overdose & die in their sleep.  Try exercise first.  Good luck.

  2. nyquil works great for me, or benadryl.  I know they're not specifically "sleeping" pills, but they work great, they're non-habit forming, and I am able to only use them when I need to.  I prefer nyquil because I can take a small sip if I'm tired but my brain just won't quit; or I can take a full dose if I'm nowhere near sleep.

  3. What has changed in the past month?

Many people are stressed out and they find it to much to handle the uncertainties of the weak economic system.

Excedren P.M. may help you out.

    good luck.

  4.                 Call your doc or local Sleep Study Center

They can give you a list of something called sleep hygine.

They are things that from years of study ,are keys to regular restfull sleep

.By the way, working out right before bed is a big" no no" it ups your metabolisim and tells your brain your gearing up ,not getting ready to enter the rest period.Exercise earlier

in the day is reccomended, especially if you have a sit down office kind of job. They have lots of helpful EASY things to do.

sleeping pills are good if you follow their guidlines and need to get you "pattern back" usually a week long.you need to go to bed a bit early ,and at the same time EVERY night to set your inside clock with their help. You can also try meletonin from the healthfood sections of most stores. You take it a few hours before bed and follow the rules.

Decrease the amount of light in your house after five.

Have ritualls like candels, soft music,no exiting tv,s*x is good a thing but don't expect to drop ,give it a bit.A warm shower or bath 1-2 hours before bed then slow streching .

Your roomshould be at the most 70 degrease with comforting bedding.

You should use your bed for intamacy and sleeping only.

    Make it a comfy nest.

    No fighting,even on the phone.

No last minute gotta do it laptop work in bed.

    Just you and sleepy thoughts.

Even the light from an alarm clock can keep you up.

So if you can turn it down or turn it away from you and put a dark cloth over it.

Give your body all the signals ,keep to the hygiene rules(I only gave a few)And your body will respond.

If worrying is still a problem, get an audio book or take a class on visualasation and relaxation.sometimes listening to a CD of the steps the first few times helps you not to get distracted, if you can't get past your head:)

Oh, and Hormones or other medications may need to be taken at a different time of day,or if you could be getting to that age hormones can help.

Try giving your body a chance first ,a bedtime ritual ,I'ts reward for serving you all day.Execise ,eat well ,and take care of YOU.

    Sweet Dreams

  5. My doctor told me to take tylenol PM because loss of sleep can adversely affect your overall health.  I am reluctant to take it especially on a continuous basis but it makes such a difference the next day if I get a good nights sleep. I have much more energy and get a lot more accomplished.  I certainly can think clearer avoiding so much "stewing around" getting nothing done. My concentration/focus is much better when I get a good nights sleep
