I have sleeping problems. I sleep 2-5 hours a day.

I am 70lbs overweight. now I'm on a 1200 calorie diet I exersice 30mins-1hour a day (I lost around 15lbs in 2 months). I used to drink 600-700 ml of cofee from the age of 11 I stoped drinking it a few months ago. The only thing I eat now that has caffeine is a very small piece of choclate. Sleeping problems started 2 and a half years ago from the time I first drank coffee but now I stoped why is this problem accuring?

Whatever I do I can't sleep unless I take a sleeping pill then I sleep around 10 hours.

But I don't take sleeping pills and I have never been addicted to them but I tried them 2-4 times in my life they work but I'm affraid to be addicted to it.

Offer me tips please.

(sorry about my bad grammer)

  1. See a physician.

  2. get to a doctor to rule out a medical cause -which can lead to obesity, depression, and many other medical problems.

  3. Way to go on taking control of your health! That's impressive for one so young. (How on earth did you get started on coffee at 11?) My first thought is that, yes, the coffee may have started your sleeping problems, but now that you've stopped, it's probably that you haven't gotten out of that sleeping pattern. It's amazing how quickly and easily our bodies can get in to a new rhythm, but it can be alot harder to get out of that rhythm. What I would suggest is this: Decide what time you really need to go to bed and what time you need to get up. Then stick to those times. Get yourself in to bed at the same time every night and set your alarm to get up (even if you don't think you need to). Give your body and your mind a chance to get used to this new pattern. Be patient as it may take awhile. Just don't mess with it by reading or listening to music, etc. Be firm. Also, you could try moving your bedtime back each night in increments. Say you are now going to bed at 2am - the next night, turn in at 1:45, then the next night, 1:30. You get the idea. Slowly train your body to sleep earlier. This always worked for me with my kids when they were little and would get off schedule, so it should work for you too. Please, please do not take the sleeping pills. One other thing - are you exercising late in the day? Just make sure you don't do it too late, as this can interfere with sleep as well, although I would worry less about that, as the exercise is important and if that's the only time you can fit it in, that's o.k! Good luck and I know you'll be fine. You're doing so great already! P.S. Take the advice given you and see a Doctor for sure.

  4. see a doctor

  5. I am about 70-80 lbs overweight as well, and I also have sleeping problems.  I have the opposite problem though, where I get either about 12 hours of sleep per night, or else I get about 5 hours of sleep.  I would definitely get looked at by a doctor if I were you.  Quite a few different things can cause sleeping problems, and it can end up being quite serious, or it could be nothing at all.  I don't have any problems, it is just my weight causing the sleep problems, so it could be just your weight causing it as well.  Be sure to get it checked out.  Also, if you are still not getting much sleep, try to do something very tiring during the day , and then just lay in bed, until you fall asleep.  Good luck, and I hope you figure out what's causing your sleeping problem!
