  1. What you are doing is taking the club back too straight from the ball on your back swing. Take it back more inside, and you will be fine.

  2. different people cause slices many different ways.  No one can give an accurate answer without actually watching you swing.  They have told you the basic causes, but it can go above and beyond that.  Best thing to do is get a pro to check you out, its worth it.

  3. You might look at changing your grip. If your thumbs are lined up in the middle of the club you can rotate them a little bit back of center (counter clockwise for the lefty). This creates what they call a strong grip. It will help in closing the face of the club just before impact. Your drives should straighten out using this technique.

  4. You will get a million responses, all different.

Here is the cause for a slice (shot peeling to the left)

The club face is open at impact (not square, impacting ball at such an angle that sends it left)

The cause for a hook (shot peeling right)

The club face is closed at impact (vice-versa of the slice)

There are a million things that cause this problem and a million solutions. But in your case there is probably just one cause and one solution, which we can not resolve without seeing your swing first hand.

  5. keep your feet paralel to each other, imagine someone is pulling on your left pocket from behind on backswing and pulling on your right on downswing, make sure your left thumb is well over the club and hold the club with your fingers, if 1 is the loosest and 10 is tighest, try to hold it with a 4. it helped me. i am right handed but same rule applies for all. good luck

  6. A slice is caused by the clubface being open at impact thus imparting side spin on the ball.  There are any number of things that can cause this, and without seeing you swing I would have no idea which one or combination of several it might be.  Get a lesson from your local professional and he will be able to get you back on track.

  7. Well, it is likely that you're taking the club to the inside on your back swing.  This would cause your club face to open up on your back swing and make you go through the swing open.

I would recommend lying a club on the ground, facing parallel right of your target.  Make sure you're taking your club back on the plane of your club on the ground.

I would also make a conscious effort to turn your left wrist over your right on your follow through from impace.

I'm not a lefty, but I hope this helps.

  8. Easiest way buddy, go and get a lesson.  From reading these answers given so far they can all be correct but then thy call all be wrong.  Here is just a small list of posibilities, your swing plane, your over body rotation, your head is lifting, there are a heap of things that could be wrong or a combination or smiply just something small.  take a lesson and you'll have the correct answer straight away without having to try all of this advice on here which could just make your game worse
