Slick Santiago all set to rock the party in Betfred Steel City Cup - 2nd Semi-final at Sheffield
After a break of more than five months, Slick Santiago returned to action with a huge bang. The spectators at Sheffield saw him winning by three and a half lengths.
After such an impressive comeback, K. Allsop’s trainee is in great position, and holds the best chance in the Betfred Steel City Cup - 2nd Semi-final, to be held on Tuesday, August 7th.
An early pace helped Slick Santiago put the rest of the crew under a lot of pressure. After getting in command at the first bend, he maintained his upper hand until the end, bagging the top prize with plenty of ease.
Other hounds in the line-up are: Drumsna Hero, Skywalker Louie, Droopys Betson, Mays Gold and Clonrooske Son. The 500 metres contest will be kicked off at 20:28 GMT. Just like the first semi-final, it carries a cash prize of £200.
Skywalker Louie was super impressive last time. Despite getting bumped and crowded early on, the blue and white hound managed to lead at the second bend. Following a sterling effort, he ensured the first position by three and a half lengths. The draw is
also an advantage for him, thus one should not overlook his chances.
Droopys Betson scrambled through the heats, and this is a lot tougher. Mays Gold enjoyed a surprise lead in the heats, and deserves some respect in today’s meeting. C. Price’s black dog beat Hather George by one and a half lengths last time.
Clonrooske Son was well beaten by Slick Santiago last time. It will be a hard ride for him, even if he gets a clean run today. Drumsna Hero is showing an all-round speed and determination these days.
After bagging the victory by two and a half lengths, the black dog managed to keep his winning run intact, and clinched the top status by a neck’s distance last time.
Drumsna Hero has established himself as a strong candidate after a couple of good wins, but Slick Santiago will be a hard fellow to tackle. There will surely be a tough battle between the pair. Good luck to all the runners.
