Slight suntanning question.?

I have heard about how tanning is horrible for the skin and always apply sunscreen yada, yada, yada. Anyway I kept thinking all the answers were based on the assumption that people lie in the sun for 3 hours every day or go to tanning beds for an hour a day. Well I'm not that narcissistic and self obsessed, but i am starting to play tennis for an hour or two every saturday or sunday in the sun without sunscreen (and i am too lazy to bother putting any on in the future). I am starting to get a bit darker and was wondering if the rumors about developing skin cancer from tanning is only directed towards the people who do it obsessively or its true and i should start playing indoors?

  1. Get some of the sunscreen that you spray on.  It goes on a lot faster than the lotion if time is a factor in your laziness.  In addition to cancer, being in the sun too much will also make you look old and leathery before your time.

  2. Even just 15 minutes out in the heat of the day can damage your skin in the long run; and you WILL develop skin cancer if you continue to not wear sunscreen, so I would recommend wearing it now or like you said, play indoor tennis.

Either way, don't go out in the sun without sun screen.

And now there are moisterizers you can wear that have a little UVA/UVB protection in them. You could do that but only if it's at least SPF15.

Hope this helps and good luck :)

  3. just wear sunscreen and you should be fine

  4. most has to do with heredity.  and the exposure you get that causes the skin cancer is from when you where a kid in the sun

  5. The rumors are true.  My sister has melanoma.  Play indoors or use SPF 15 more really doesn't do more.  It is worse today because the ozone layer is thinner & provides less protection to use.

Also it causes you to wrinkle faster.

    Good luck
