captivating their adoring public, and their strong finishes often give the audience something to cheer about.
The surprise first-place finish from Sligo Rovers (8-1) gave racing fans something to talk about. Despite crowding first, he finished well with a time of 29.84 seconds. Glenside Charley
was another surprise finisher in this race. The 11-4 long shot held and early pace from trap four, and led the run in to take second place in 29.90. She was only ¾ lengths behind the winner. Third place was claimed by Spriga Herbert (3-1), who sprinted to
a 30.10 finish that was 2 ½ lengths behind Glenside Charley.
Make Design, the 5-2 favourite, failed to crack the top three today, finishing fourth in 30.42. Despite a clear run, he lost some ground early on, which caused him to finish four lengths
behind third place. Only a ½ length separated fourth place from fifth, with Effernogue Gary (9-2) earning his position in 30.46. Hawksnest Oliver (7-1) brought up the rear with a 30.58 finish that was 1½ lengths out of fifth place.
Next on the card was an A5 race that saw Glenske Raider (7-2) race to a very close finish. He moved quickly away from the pack and ran on to lay claim on the top spot with his 29.46 finishing
time. Just a shoulder’s length behind him was Droopys Ego, the 7-4 favourite. He did the storied Droopys name of greyhound racing proud with his second-place finish, which matched the winner’s time of 29.46.
Exit Happy (5-1) exited this race in a happy state by finishing in third place. His time of 29.56 was 1¼ lengths behind Droopys Ego. Sailing to a finish in the number four spot was Rathmartin
Bay (5-1), who was forced to check at the quarter mark, and continued on to finish in 29.78. He missed third place by 2¾ lengths.
Crowding first and fourth proved to be the thorns in Gilded Rose’s (7-2) side. She finished 1¼ lengths behind fourth place in 29.88 to take fifth place. The sixth-place finisher was Milroad
Classic (7-1), who completed the race in 29.94. He was ¾ lengths behind Gilded Rose.
