Slim Amarillo races to slim A2 victory at Monmore
A victory is a victory at the Monmore Green Greyhound Stadium. No matter how close the results are in each 480m race, the winners and those who watch them are always satisfied with the
results. Slim Amarillo was definitely happy after he beat out five worthy competitors in the A2 race during an action-packed afternoon.
Slim Amarillo (7-2) began the race with a great start from trap two. He held and early pace and led second, en route to a first-place finish in 28.86. Psychotic Silver (3-1) also had a
good start, holding an early place and going wide to finish in second place. Her time of 29.08 placed her 2¾ lengths behind the champion.
Third place was claimed by 2-1 favourite Woodhill Iota, who moved slowly away and crowded halfway. He completed the race with a time of 29.14, which was ¾ lengths behind Psychotic Silver.
Dereks Blueboy (6-1) was the fourth-place finisher, moving slowly away to land a single length out of the top three with his 29.22 finishing time.
Proud Ronaldo (6-1) took fifth place after crowding the run up and halfway. He also checked first and lost 4 lengths as a result. He would go on to finish in 29.54. A missed break became
the thorn in Tyrur Wednesday’s (7-2) side, as it cost him the win. He also crowded the run up and half way, finishing a neck’s length behind fifth place in 29.56.
Later on, an A4 race that featured a trio of 5-2 co-favourites was held. One of them managed to claim the top spot, and that honour went to Return Slippy. Starting from trap one, he moved
slowly away and crowded first, but ran on to win the race with a time of 29.05. Quick Fox (8-1) went wide, and had every chance to emerge victorious. He settled for a second-place finish in 29.21 that was 2 lengths out of the number one position.
Ballymac Away (6-1) moved quickly away from the pack, and placed third in 29.33, 1½ lengths behind second place. Finishing fourth was Uluru Amy (7-1), who crowded first and lost 2¾ lengths
in the process. She went on to complete the race in 29.55.
The bottom two spots were claimed by the other two co-favourites. Cockney Jewel locked up a fifth-place finish in 29.61 after crowding and checking first. She was ¾ lengths behind Uluru
Amy. Finally, Iceman Boss places sixth after crowding first. He matched the fifth-place time of 29.61, and missed fifth place by a shoulder.
Monmore Green Greyhound Stadium will be the site of more exciting races on Thursday, 4 November. The first race of the evening begins at 19:25.
