Slingbox Pro, how does it work?

Question

read about this device called the slingbox pro in PC magazine and thought it was interesting and did some more research on it and i just would like to know how exactly it works? Do i just plug in the white, red, and yellow plugs into it and it transmits my tv channels to my computer, i just got a new laptop so would it work well with that?
