Slingbox and the satellite?

Question

If my friend hooks a slingbox to his satellite receiver and the internet at home, would I be able to change the channel from my location? Would I be limited to watch only the channel that he is watching? Thanks for your help.

You would be able to change the channel remotely. I t will of course change that channel on his TV.

There are other ways to connect the box depending on which one he has or buys.
