The Hannover manager has claimed that it was a good first-half for the team but insisted that some results could have been better.
Die Roten have had a mixed season so far in the Bundesliga and are currently placed seventh on the league table with 23 points from the 17 games played. The side has lost only four times this season but the main problem has been
the eight draws that they have played.
After a sensational season in the league last term when they finished fourth and were marginally denied a UEFA Champions League place by Bayern Munich, Hannover have been good this season also and are working hard for a place in
Europe at the end of the season.
Slomka claimed that it was a good first-half of the season and admitted that the team has performed well in the last six months. He also expressed his satisfaction on the 1-1 draw against FC Kaiserslautern in their last league
fixture and claimed that the players worked really hard to earn a point.
The manager admitted that there are still some areas that need improvement and that the side is working hard to come out well after the winter break in January.
“We were effective, scoring with our first chance, but then we wasted our second major opportunity. I think we have to be happy with a point based on the second half. FCK put us under a lot of pressure, though we lacked composure,”
the manager was quoted as saying in an interview.
Meanwhile, the opposition manager Marco Kurz rued missed chances in the match and insisted that the finishing was not up to the mark. He admitted that there were ample chances for the attackers to find the net but luck was not
on their side in the game.
“We played really well. The only thing I didn't like was the result. We didn't defend well for the opening goal. There were various occasions where we should have scored. We're playing superbly; it's just the goals that are lacking,”
he concluded.
Hannover will take on Hoffenheim in their next Bundesliga fixture at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Saturday, January 21.
