The Germans qualified for the next round of the UEFA Europa League with a 3-1 win against the Ukrainian team at the AWD-Arena.
The manager is satisfied with the result and has stated that the team has to build up on the impressive displays in Europe to get good results in the Bundesliga also. He admitted that the team’s prime focus should not be to keep
possession as that does not guarantee a win.
Hannover have successfully qualified for the next round in the Europa League after a win in their last group stage match against Poltava. They finished second in Group B behind Standard Liege with 11 points from the six games played,
winning three and losing once.
Mirko Slomka claimed that the team has lost most of the matches this season when they have had the majority of possession so it is not necessarily the main thing to win. He praised the team for playing attacking football in Europe
and has urged them to emulate the same game in the league as well.
“We've always lost whenever we've had more possession this season. It doesn't necessarily guarantee victory. It was hard work. Everyone saw that Poltava can play football,” he was quoted as saying in an interview.
Meanwhile, midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Konstantin-Rausch-c21308 has set his sights on a win against FC Kaiserslautern this weekend. He wants to secure all three points in the side’s last game of the year to end the first half of the campaign on a positive
note.
The player, who opened the scoring against Poltava on Thursday, admitted that he wants to do it for the fans who have not seen a better performance in the league for a while now.
“We're taking the match very seriously. It's important for the spectators, who are coming to see a good game,” the midfielder concluded.
Hannover played a 0-0 draw against Bayer Leverkusen last week and were unable to climb the standings after securing a point only. The team is placed eighth with 22 points from the 16 games played, winning five times and having
tasted defeat on four occasions this season.
