Slope in Math EQUATION?

I have the equation y=(2/3) x-5

I found the slope and y-intercept, but then the directions said to show 3 coordinates of points in a table. can someone expalin to me how to do this or show me how to?

  1. so you know how to find the point, then you go up 2 and to the right 3 because it is saying that is where you need to go.  If you need a nother point then do the opisite and go down 2 and to the left 3.  Hope that was helpful.


  2. I think I understand your question.  You can do a table such as this:

    Let x = 0.  By using the formula you would have y = (2/3)*0 -5 = 5.

    Remember, Multiply before you Divide before you Add before you Subtract; or My Dear Aunt Sally

    If we let x be 3, then y = (2/3)*3 -5 = 2-5 = -3

    If we let x be 30, then y = (2/3)*30 - 5 = 20 - 5 = 15

    so we would have a table like this:

    x  | y                  

    -----------

    0  |  -5                                                        

    3  |  -2                                                        

    30 | 15

    Comma delimited would be:

    x,y

    0,-5

    3,-2

    30, 15

    I think this is how you would do it.
