Slopes and Curves of Functions?

if a function has a curve that looks like a like one of the "cone heads" from snl. (i dont know how else to describe it). like an upside down bowl. does that mean the function is decreasing and so is the slope?

    In answer to your question, yes, the slope decreases, and the output value of the function decreases as well.
