  1. sauce

    1 T oil

    1/2 cup diced onions

    1/2 cup diced green peppers

    1 cup ketchup

    1/2 cup bbq sauce

    1 T Worcestershire Sauce

saute onions and peppers in oil until onions are slightly brown...add remaining ingredients...combine with cooked and drained ground beef..

  2. We've only used the Manwich sauce and I think its good...d**n now I want one.

  3. My fav. recipe is really, really easy.  Preheat your oven to 375.  Take stew meat or roast, and cut it up very small(into 1" cubes).  Put it into a baking dish and pour a small amout of your favorite BBQ sauce onto it(just enough to coat all the meat slightly).Bake it for about an hour and a half.  Take it out and let it cool slightly.  Put it into a food processor and chop it till it's pretty fine, but not mushy. If you desire you can add a small amount of BBQ at this point.  Season to taste.  Put it on a bun and enjoy. Not exactly a traditional Sloppy Joe, but it's very easy and everyone likes it. And the meat is very tender.  Best of all, you put it in the oven and forget about it for a while.  Hope you try it, good luck.

  4. SLOPPY JOE BURRITOS

    burrito size tortillas

    ground meat

green onions or yellow onion, chopped

    fresh tomatoes, chopped

    chopped lettuce

    shredded cheese (any kind)

    green bell peppers

1 pkg. dry Sloppy Joe mix

1 8 oz can tomato sauce

Steam tortillas. Cook meat mixture according to Sloppy Joe mix package except don't add tomato paste - use tomato sauce instead. When cooked, place tortilla on plate. Spoon meat mix down the middle of tortilla, then put cheese on the meat and put the rest of suggested toppings on then roll the tortilla up Burrito style.

This is a really good recipe for kids because it's easy for them to hold on to.

    Makes about 6-7.

  5. manwitch is the only way to go for our family.i tried to buy a packet once and by the time you add all the stuff to it and cook it, it is more expensive and does not taste as good as manwitch

  6. it includes toe nails...

  7. I don't mix and measure,  I cook up my ground beef, drain, salt, pepper, onion powder, brown sugar, bit of ketchup, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish and mix away.  I keep tasting until its how we like it. Sometimes I make them saucier with more ketchup, sometime drier using less.  I like mine with a kick so I add more horseradish, if I can get away with it as my hubby and kids like their taverns sweeter which means more brown sugar.

You can also boil the hamburger which is a way many around here prefer.  You boil it, drain and than put in a skillet with the other ingredients.

Oh, sometimes I even add some beer to mine.  You can also dice up some onions and add to the ground beef.

The beauty of Sloppy Joes/Taverns/Maid Rites or whatever you want to call them is that you don't need to follow an exact recipe, just know what you like and mix away.
