Slovak Open 2012: Mitja Semrov trounces Andrey Serov in qualifying round battle
Slovenia’s upcoming shuttler Mitja Semrov showed a great performance in Men’s Singles qualifying round contest when he played with remarkable control on court and overpowered Austria’s Andrey Serov at the Victor Slovak Open 2012 on Thursday, September 6, in Slovakia.
The in-form Mitja, who was the fourth seeded player in the qualifying round draw in the championship, played to his maximum potential and easily thrashed his lower ranked Austrian opponent without letting him dominate the pace at any stage.
The higher ranked Mitja remained in complete control of rallies throughout the set and remained successful in winning the battle in straight sets with a stunning margin by working for just 20 minutes on court.
On the other hand, the un-seeded Andrey showed glimpses of his skills in opening set but he could not dictate the pace and struggling all the way. He could not play positive badminton at the crucial stage and lost the match in a one-sided fashion.
In the first game, the impressive Mitja played dominating badminton as he remained in tremendous form. He pushed his talented opponent in all sides of the court and remained slightly ahead on the score-board until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, the fourth seeded Slovenian shuttler played to his maximum potential and stretched his lead without facing a considerable resistance.
The impressive Mitja played with wonderful precision and remained successful in winning the first game with a superb 21-16 score on the board.
Second game was shocking for the lower ranked Austrian shuttler who could not put up strong resistance against the power play of his rival and remained struggling to place his shots in gaps.
Meanwhile, Mitja remained on track without facing any trouble and took a commanding lead on score-board until the break.
After the one-minute interval, the incredible Mitja continued his remarkable run on the score-board without showing any mercy to his un-seeded Austrian opponent and took the second game with a killing margin of 21-8.
The in-form Slovenian shuttler won this qualifying round clash in just 20 minutes with a tremendous 21-16 and 21-8 score on the board.
