Slovenia International 2012: Mohit Kamat trounces Mathias Mundbjerg in Men’s Singles semi-final
India’s Mohit Kamat stunned everyone when he powered his way into Men’s Singles final after putting up gutsy show in semi-final contest where he trounced Denmark’s Mathias Mundbjerg at the FZ Forza Slovenia International 2012 on Saturday, May 12, in Slovenia.
Mohit was impressive throughout the tournament and also continued his inspiring run in the semi-final as well where he thrashed his Danish opponent in a fascinating fashion.
The spirited Indian started his campaign in Slovenia International as an un-seeded player but turned into potential contender for the title by reaching into the final of the championship.
In the semi-final battle, Mohit showed his brilliance by playing attacking and positive badminton and ousted his rival in three games by spending 54 minutes in the court.
On the other hand, Mathias played well in opening two games but failed to dictate the pace in the final set and eventually lost it with a big margin on the board.
Mohit started his run against Mathias in a composed manner as he did not spare any gap to let his opponent to earn points.
However, he also could not manage a comfortable lead on the board until the one-minute break because his opponent was also positive in the court.
After the break, the Indian put up a spectacular show by playing attacking badminton and remained successful in wrapping up the first set with a 21-18 score on the board.
In the second game, Mathias also lifted up his level of play and matched the speed of his Indian rival. Until the break, both men remained quite close on the score board.
After the interval, Mohit tried to establish a reasonable lead but failed as Mathias was also playing attacking and composed badminton.
The score was 20-20 when Mohit failed to focus in the game and lost the contest with a tight 20-22 score on the board.
In the deciding game, Mohit changed his tactics which worked well and he managed to establish a remarkable lead until the break.
After the interval, he continued playing at his best and took the final set with a one-sided 21-11 score on the board.
Mohit won this Men’s Singles semi-final contest in 54 minutes with a margin of 21-18, 20-22 and 21-11.
